A little deburring, some minor trimming with a file, and a set of inserts almost completes the job.
A nice benefit of this is that, since the inserts have to have the tips ground flat to help form the spline,
I can use slightly dull inserts from the scrap can, just touching up the tips on a diamond wheel.
