A quick buzz with the air sander and a Scotchbrite disc and we're done!
I could have ground the welds flush and smooth, but I didn't want to grind too
far and possibly weaken the patch. I tested it by dumping a cup of old gasoline
into the pan, and watched the seam. If there was going to be any porosity or
incompletely-fused seams, the gas would have wicked through and shown up as a
wet spot on the outside. After five minutes, nothing. Dry as a bone. Done!
