The stub blank was easy- rough turn the end of a 3/4" aluminum rod to a taper that
sorta matches the pipe thread, and run the die on. Mistake #3 was when I forgot
that I wouldn't be able to run the die all the way on, meaning that the new part
would tighten into the hole, but wouldn't seat. There'd still be threads showing.
Again, I know better than this. (grumble, grumble...)
