Finally, I hit on an idea; I'd lose the cap entirely, pull the threaded collar seen above, out, and fab a plug to make contact
to the two, er, contacts. I went so far as to fab such a plug, and was contemplating how to make an insulating sleeve and
spring-loaded brass center contact when I got an even brighter idea.
I needed a switch, a place to put a battery (AA) and a way to make contact to the connections in the goggs.
I gathered some parts I had laying around, made a few measurements, and discovered it'd not only work, it's be
stupidly easy.
Step one: Remove the threaded collar from the contacts. This opens up a few more threads to use, for a better hold.
Threads are probably metric, but were close enough to 24TPI for a few turns to work fine.
