Unfortunately, the university Administration put an end to Cookie Day only a year or two later,
citing possible health issues. (As in, possible contamination by machine oil, swarf or other hazards.)
Even more unfortunately, O'Bie retired in 2012 or so, and the administration used that as an excuse
to eliminate the entire machine shop program. The machines were auctioned off in '13 or '14
and the room converted to an art studio. Fortunately, though, over the years I'd had the chance
to take the classes (five or six times, actually :) and learn a great deal. And have some cookies too.
