Then just feed the knob into the cutter as you're "pecking" with the quill,
until the depth looks about right. Again, I was going entirely by eye here, but
if you're making multiple knobs, you'll want to measure a little more carefully.
Then, as each groove is cut, simply loosen the vise, turn the collet
block one flat, and cut the next groove. It's easy and quick, and the
depth stop and vise stop keep everything reasonably well lined up.
