Now, you could, at this point, leave the knob smooth, or even
knurl it. I wanted some coarse vertical grooves, so I got out the
5C Hex block. Using a 1" 5C collet (the reason for the 1" section)
I clamped the knob blank and stood the whole mess up in the mill vise.
You can see the vise stop on the rear jaw- this is so the collet block can be
removed and replaced, and quickly returned very close to the same position.
