Due to the flaking paint and rust, I'd missed it the first few times, but eventually I noticed
the lettering cast into the tailstock end of the bed: Lodge & Shipley, Cin.O.U.S.A.
Later I got online and asked some experts. With a little back and forth, it was eventually determined to be
a Lodge & Shipley 18" Early Selective Head, probably built around 1914 to 1915.
