Machinery's Handbook, 1945

And this, which again, looks like it had just been folded up and placed there recently, and not over sixty years ago.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what it's for- a car dealer, could be he bought some tires (yes, five bucks would have
bought two tires, easily, back then) or had a full-service and tune up done, or it could have been a car payment.

Apparently he took the admonishment to "keep the reciept" (at the top) seriously. :)  It's also interesting
to note that the son of Henry Monroe, Paul, was the co-owner of the Cessna I mentioned earlier.

In addition, here and there have been jotted certain notes (one in the back cover is a reminder about
go-no-go gages) and glued (not taped) snippets of "commonly used" information- the weight of a gallon
of water, quick formulas to find the area of triangles or circles, the volume of cones, and other stuff.

I never really knew the man, to any significant degree, since my family moved away- and
eventually to Alaska- even before I was born, so it's an interesting look back on his life.
