The trick, then, was to line the new slot up on the fixed jaw.
Since it was fairly closely located thanks to the new bolts, the new groove
had to be precisely positioned. It took a bit of fiddling, and a few careful
measurements, but I got it done. It wasn't, however, helped by the fact the
bolt holes were not exactly square to the jaw.
