Then it was a simple matter to very lightly mill the three sides
to square the slot up to the rest of the casting.
"Lightly" because I didn't want to take more iron away than I absolutely
had to.
The casting is already scrap-ladle quality grey iron, I didn't need to make
it any weaker.
