After several careful measurements, I first counterbored the original hole
to
the depth necessary to let the shank of the new bolt pass up into the fixed
jaw.
The original counterbore, by the way, was done with a conventional drill-
as in,
producing a tapered seat, rather than a flats seat for the bottom of the
bolt head.
Cheap, quick and barely functional. Basically the motto of these import tools.
