Here we see evidence the holes were drilled and the
key slots milled after the base had been milled flat. The light areas
surrounding them are high spots the stone shaved own.
Those same high points, if not taken care of, also tend to scratch up
your mill table, possibly also raising slight dents and burrs, reducing the
accuracy of your machine.
