Unfortunately, it turns out the driver kinda crunched the upper eve
of the house as he was pulling in to back into the shop. On positive side,
this was about the worst thing that happened- nobody got a big lump of
iron on their foot, nobody ruptured a disc, nothing got dropped and bent.
I can still call it a good day. |
Here the column and knee assembly has been moved into the machine shop and we're getting it placed. Shims were needed, as the floor is nowhere near flat or level. |
This is the "One Shot Lube" assembly.
It's a small reservoir of way oil with a small built in hand pump. When used, it sends oil through the various fittings, into numerous small aluminum tubes, where it is injected into the table leadscrew nuts, the saddle and knee ways, the knee screw and elsewhere. The leadscrew nuts came with a healthy dollop of what appeared to be decent grease. |
Inside the saddle we see the rest of the "one shot" tubing, and the grooves milled into the top of the table ways to help distribute the way oil. The leadscrew nuts are slotted for easy lash adjustment, and are truly huge with a 1"+ diameter ACME leadscrew that appears to be either polished or plated. |
